Magical Miscellany 4.13.14

Magical Miscellany is a best of the web for modern mystics, showcasing my favorite links from the past seven days. Expect an eclectic mix of astrology & tarot, creativity & business, and an inside look at what I’ve been up to over the last week. C’est bon!

AT HOME:

I went to Paris for the first time nearly a year ago, and I can't seem to get it off my mind! Needless to say I fell completely head-over-heels for the city. Seriously, who wouldn't love a gorgeous Art Nouveau cafe like this? With the romantic Venus & Neptune conjunction in effect, I've been dreaming of Paris nearly every night. Not sure what it means, but I'm certainly enjoying it!

ON THE WEB:

When you work for yourself, it's easy to let the lines between business and pleasure get blurry. So what's a girl to do when talking shop starts to sound more like a free consult? Theresa Reed a.k.a. The Tarot Lady's has the low-down on what to do (and say) when your 'friends' try and score your skills for free.

Danielle LaPorte's two-part behemoth on “leaving the church of self-improvement” is a revelation. If you're feeling jaded with the self-help machine, this beautiful missive will energize and inspire.

Confession: I'm a bit obsessed with Stanley Kubrick. Did you know that last week was the 46th anniversary of the release of 2001: A Space Odyssey? Flavorwire's 25 things you didn't know about the film are enough to fascinate even a seasoned movie nerd.

I'm not a mom, but MomSpark's video about how to write and monetize an e-book is pure gold... and it features the fabulous Sarah Morgan!

This post on how to successfully transition from junk food to a vegan lifestyle is everything.

There's something special about burning things, isn't there? Herb mistress Jen Rue from Rue & Hyssop talks satisfaction in fire... and ritual.
